Dwayne tanner was born in Rock Springs, Wyoming, in 1953 and grew up in the small town of Granger, Wyoming. At the age of 10, Dwayne visited the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody, Wyoming and knew at that time that he wanted to become an artist. His art was merely a hobby for over 30 years and then he started his art career in 2000. Dwayne is self taught and studies daily to produce high quality art.
John Clymer, well known artist from Jackson, Wyoming, led Dwayne to his dream. In 1985, nearly 15 years earlier Mr Clymer gave Dwayne the insight and shared enthusiasm that it would take to go down the long lonely road that artists travel. Mr. Clymer agreed to meet with this young artist for 30 minutes and spent 4 hours talking to Dwayne.
Dwayne has won several awards including: Best of Show Watercolor, Cheyenne Frontier Days Western Spirit Art Show and Sale, Governor's Choice and People's Choice awards at the Wyoming Governor's Invitational Wild Horse Art Show, First Place in the national Wrangler's art contest, and many more through the years.
He has been published in Western Horseman and Cowboys and Indians magazines. Dwayne continues to sell his original art world wide and continues to donate original art to local charities and fund-raising efforts.
